Careers Quality Award
Striving to release potential…
Long Road Sixth Form College is proud of its relationship with a broad range of employers and education providers in the local community, a factor recognised by OFSTED, and praised in the attainment of the Quality in Careers Standard, which we intend to revalidate. Whether delivering class talks, hosting workplace tours, or taking part in careers events within the college, we value input from external partners to help our students develop an appreciation of the world of work and to support them with their progression plans. Please click here for a link to the DfE website where you can see data about Destinations of our students.
Feedback from employers and students helps us to improve future activities. We are keen to hear what parents think too, with input collected at our annual After Long Road Parents Event or, in 2024, from the Apprenticeships Parents Information Evening.
We welcome opportunities to collaborate with any employer, particularly to create employer-led challenges where students work in teams to tackle projects typical of different professions and to address sustainability and net zero challenges. This is enormously important in helping students build vital employability skills.
We also work in partnership with organisations like Form the Future CIC, Cambridge LaunchPad, and Working Options in Education. Until recently we also worked with Career Ready who help students studying Science interact with employers, both in the workplace, and via masterclasses in college, but which no longer operates in Cambridgeshire. Similarly, we seek to work with college alumni, reaching out and building strong relationships and regularly inviting them to participate in careers events. Alumni can join our alumni community by completing a short form on our website.
If you are a parent, employer, higher education, further education, or apprenticeship provider and would like to contribute to or provide feedback on any aspect of our careers programme, please email us at careers@longroad.ac.uk.
