IT: App Development Level 3 Applied

Course Overview

IT is at the heart of everyday modern life; at work, at home and in our leisure time. All organisations need software applications, meaning a wide range of career opportunities are open to you; from web development to game design, user experience design, and software development.

This course is available to study as an Extended Certificate (60-credit course, equivalent to 1 A Level)

You will study software development fundamentals, including development models, project planning, and user interface design, while learning practical application development methods used across the IT industry. You will complete hands-on projects creating functioning software, games, and prototypes, taking your ideas through the full development cycle from initial requirements to user testing. The projects replicate how software products are developed in a real business environment.

Completing coursework for each unit means you will develop excellent research, documentation, and presentation skills. These, along with the practical development and problem-solving skills you will refine while working on projects, are all highly valued by employers.

Universities, employers, and industry specialists have been consulted during the course's development to ensure students gain the right combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for progression to higher education or employment in the field.
