Media Level 2 Diploma
Course Overview
Are you interested in media production as a possible career? On our Level 2 Media course you will develop the skills needed to work within creative media industries, following professional practices at all times throughout your studies.
This course will allow you to develop your creativity and confidence with two key Adobe applications: Photoshop and Premiere for graphic design work and short video productions of their own.
While on the course, you will complete seven units covering:
- Basic video and audio production training.
- Digital photography, including using a photography studio.
- Graphic design for a range of print products, including posters and covers.
- Producing a two-minute video production with a title sequence.
- Researching the BBC and one of their television programmes.
It is mainly a practical course, meaning you will learn about media concepts through producing media artefacts. There are nine sessions a week alongside an English or Maths GCSE retake course.
This course will give you a broad foundation to progress onto one of our Level 3 Media courses for a further two years, with Long Road Alumni going on to achieve careers in Film, Graphic Design and Photography after leaving Long Road.

Minimum Entry Requirements
- Three GCSEs at Grade 4 including:
- Grade 3 in GCSE English Language
- Grade 3 in GCSE Maths
Students who have not achieved a Grade 4 in GCSE English and/or GCSE Maths must retake these as part of their study programme.

Why choose this course?
The Level 2 Media course is for students who are interested in media production as a possible career aim. So preferably any student applying to this course needs to feel comfortable using creative software with computers, although prior study is not necessary. There are nine sessions a week alongside an English or Maths GCSE retake course.
Each student will be equipped in lessons with a MacBook laptop to produce coursework.
Skills you'll gain
The Level 2 Media course allows students to develop their creativity and confidence with two key Adobe applications; Photoshop and Premiere for graphic design work and short video productions of their own. It is mainly a practical course, allowing students to learn about media concepts through producing media artefacts. The course teaches filmmaking and photography techniques alongside graphic design.
After Long Road
This programme gives you a broad foundation to progress onto one of our Level 3 Media courses for a further two years. Long Road Media Alumni go on to achieve careers in Film, Graphic Design and Photography after leaving Long Road.
I've pretty much enjoyed everything so far, recording footage around the college grounds, editing a short film, and designing a film poster!
