Sports students host Summer Olympics event for care home residents

Well done to the group of Level 3 Applied Sport students, Phoebe, Oskar, Michael, Malik, Libby and Jackson, who have been visiting Oaklands Care Home to host an event for their residents! The students received great feedback from residents and staff, who all had a great time at their summer Olympic-themed event!

We are a group of Long Road sixth form students who all collaborated together to host an event for the residents of Oaklands care home, all based around the upcoming Paris 2024 Summer Olympics!

We hosted activities for the residents, which included things such as balloon tennis and bowling, as well as dancing to songs like Sweet Caroline and Dancing Queen, which helped bring our event to an exciting ending. Everyone had a sensational experience, and we all left feeling proud and thrilled to have been part of the event. We spent many weeks making sure that the event was going to be as successful as possible and feel as though we have learnt so much from an experience like this.

It has taught us so much and is something we would definitely think about doing again!
