Happy Thanksgiving to our friends at Troy High School, Michigan!
We're wishing our friends at Troy High School, Michigan, a very happy Thanksgiving!
Today, 9 of our A Level Politics students met virtually for the third time with students from Troy High School, alongside their teacher Ryan Werenka.
As always, these exchanges provide a good forum for our students to get to know other young people and ask them about their lives and how politics has an impact on them. They enquired how the recent election had impacted on them and whether or not they were concerned about gun violence in their daily lives, in response to which two of the American students spoke about their own gun ownership. The young people from Troy were keen to know the views of our students on the monarchy alongside other cultural questions, including questions about the time lessons start in the UK (7.20am in Troy) and on the consumption of tea, a very significant beverage in the history of UK-US relations!
It was good to see the ease with which both sides of the exchange were able to comfortably engage with one another, and it is now hoped that these same students can build upon their initial meeting to start a productive relationship in order to understand each other’s culture and politics.
Thanks as always to Ryan and the students at Troy High School.
