These sessions have been a huge success, providing a fun and inclusive way for students to stay active, enhance participation, break down barriers, and get involved in sport here at Long Road.

Impressive women’s Netball squad advances to round 4 of the AoC Sport Knockout Cup for the first time in 5 years
Our Women’s Netball team has advanced to round 4 of the AoC Sport Knockout Cup, where they’ll face a challenging away game against Oaklands College Elite on Wednesday 4th December. The squad has undoubtedly earned their spot, defeating Peterborough Regional College in the 2nd round, and securing a hard fought 48-43 victory against Colchester Sixth Form College. Good luck girls!
Following their successful Cup run, we heard from Ella Crew, who was nominated alongside Lily Thacker to represent the College at the AoC Sport Regional Rep trials in Birmingham.
After starting out with her mum at Comberton Netball club, Ella has quickly progressed to play for Saracens Mavericks U17s Academy, competing in the English NPL. She has now progressed to captain London Pulse U19s in Premier League 1.
“My long-term goal is to play for England, and I’m working really hard in order to be selected for the England U19 Academy, which could lead me to a higher level such as England Roses and the NSL. I’d also like to coach Netball to children in different countries.”
“The only advice I would give to others looking to pursue excellence in their chosen sport is that everything is a test, my mum always tells me this. If you get invited to play in extra games, training or even gym sessions, do it, because the more drive and input you put into the sport, the more it will be noticed.”
